New Addition to the Extended Family

Sloan, daughter of Doug and Mandi, made her appearance on Saturday. I got to be at the hospital to act as surrogate grandmother since Doug's parents live in Montana. I arrived at the hospital about 10 minutes after her birth and got to see Doug changing his first diaper!Isn't she just precious?
This is one of my favorites! The love was flowing between these two girls.
I think she was talking to me!Mandi's parent, Chris and Pam
We went back Sunday so Sandy could visit.

End of year/retirement party

A couple of weeks before school was out, we had our campus end of the year party and my retirement celebration at Mesquite Ranch. Here are some pictures!

Melinda reading a letter from Alyssa and Ashley.
The staff wrote memories/letters and put them all in a memory book.

Family Celebration

Earlier this month we got to go to Houston to see our son-in-law receive his doctoral degree. Here is Dr. Edgar Lichar Dillon - way to go, Lichar! We are proud of you.
You can view a video at Alyssa and Lichar's site (here) that tells more about Lichar's degree as well as see him walk across the stage. Thanks to Kalum (Ashley's husband) for taking the video so the rest of us could watch.

Graduation at UTMB was in a much smaller auditorium
than graduation at TAMU!

There was a very nice reception but we went to Guido's
to celebrate graduation, anniversaries and birthdays.
We had a great time visiting with our kids for a long weekend.

What's this all about?

Welcome to my blog! After 34 years in education, I'm preparing for retirement. So I thought I'd give blogging a try so my friends and family can keep up with me.

For the last six years, I've been the principal at Margaret Wills Elementary. There have been good times and bad times, happy times and sad times but I wouldn't change anything. I love the faculty and staff I've been privileged to work with. It's been great to watch the students grow and change.

My plans for retirement include lots and lots of rest! I'll probably spend time on the computer - I love to play solitare - crocheting and working math and logic puzzles. Tune in and find out what is to come as "Mrs. Boss" Ham retires while "Boss" Ham keeps on working!
